Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Price Leak, Release Date

As we move further into 2024, it won’t be long before Samsung reveals its upcoming lineup of foldable phones. This is expected to feature the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 6.

So, what can we expect from the Galaxy Z Fold 6? We’re eagerly awaiting details on its rumored prices, specs, design, and more. Stay tuned as we gather all the information available.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6

Based on the pattern of previous Samsung Galaxy Z Fold launches, it’s reasonable to anticipate the upcoming iteration of Samsung foldable phones to be released during the summer. If you need any further details from me, feel free to ask.

It seems like the release dates for the Galaxy Z Fold series are shifting. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 came out on August 27, 2021, followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 4 on August 25, 2022, and the most recent Galaxy Z Fold 5 launched on August 11, 2023.

However, there are indications that we might see the Galaxy Z Fold 6 earlier this year. According to a report from SamMobile, the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to take place in early July 2024. The signs point to the second week of the month, and given that Galaxy Unpacked events usually happen on Wednesdays, it’s likely that the announcement date will be around July 10.

Samsung might be gearing up for an earlier release this year to sync with the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, which kick off on July 26. Reports suggest that the Galaxy Unpacked event could also be making its debut in Paris in line with the global event. This information is according to The Bell’s recent report.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: price

The Galaxy Fold 6 Price

It has always been a challenge to find affordable foldable phones, as their prices have typically hovered around the $1,800 range. For instance, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,800 for the base model (12GB/256GB), with the 512GB version costing $1,920 and the 1TB version reaching a staggering $2,160.

However, this year might bring a change, with rumors suggesting the possibility of two different Galaxy Z Fold 6 models. There are speculations about a more expensive Galaxy Z Fold 6 “Ultra,” which could make the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6 seem more budget-friendly. Initially, there were talks about a “cheap” Fold 6 FE variant, but a recent report from The Elec has indicated that Samsung may be abandoning this idea. Initially, it was believed that the base Fold 6 model would be released without S Pen support, but now it seems that it may not be released at all.

It is possible that the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6 may have a lower starting price, while the Ultra variant could start at the usual $1,800 price point or even higher. If this turns out to be the case, we might see the regular Z Fold 6 being available for $1,600 or even less.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Design

According to a recent leak from Thinborne, a U.S.-based case manufacturer, it seems that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 may take design cues from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The leaked CAD render suggests a more angular design with sharper edges and a wider cover screen, consistent with previous leaks. Additionally, the render showcased the traditional triple camera setup and thinner sides.

One of the gripes with the previous Galaxy Z Fold models (3-5) was the aspect ratio of the cover display, which divided opinions. However, it appears that Samsung might address this concern with potential changes for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Based on a post by @Revegnus on X (formerly Twitter), there are rumors that Samsung might alter the aspect ratio of the cover display. Additionally, another source, @RossYoung on X, has also hinted that the inner and outer displays of the upcoming device will be larger compared to its predecessors.

IceUniverse has also contributed to the leaks, further supporting these speculations. According to their findings, the screen protectors for the Z Fold 6 indicate that the outer display will be wider. However, the increase in width might not be as significant as previously rumored. It is suggested that the outer display will measure approximately 60.2mm, in contrast to the 57mm wide display on the Fold 5. The screen protector’s corners also appear to be sharper, resembling the design of the S24 Ultra more than the Fold 5.

According to a previous leak by Yogesh Brar, it is rumored that the cover display on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 might be 6.4 inches. In comparison, the current cover display on the Z Fold 5 measures 6.2 inches. This suggests that the Z Fold 6 could be slightly wider, featuring an aspect ratio of 20:9 instead of the 23.1:9 aspect ratio of the Z Fold 5.

The size of the cover display has an impact on the inner display. The current aspect ratio of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 inner display is 5:6, but the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may have a more square-like aspect ratio at 1.08:1.

On February 28, leaker @OnLeaks collaborated with SmartPrix to reveal design renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. According to these renders, the device seems to feature a 6.2-inch cover display, a 7.6-inch inner display, and dimensions of 153.5 mm by 132.5 mm by 6.1 mm when unfolded. This would make it slightly shorter and wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Additionally, the OnLeaks render suggests that the phone’s overall frame will have flat edges and sharper corners, resembling the design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

According to Leaker Chun Bhai, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 is rumored to have a wider yet thinner and lighter design, measuring just 11mm when folded.

Another recent leak from IceUniverse suggests that the Z Fold 6 may indeed have these dimensions, with an unfolded thickness of 5.6 mm, a folded thickness of 12.1 mm, and a weight of 239 grams. However, IceUniverse contradicts @Onleaks and claims that the internal screen will be 7.6 inches with a 7:6 ratio, while the external screen will be 6.3 inches with a 22:9 aspect ratio. This places the Fold 6 in between the Pixel Fold (5.8 mm unfolded, 12.1 mm folded) and the OnePlus Open (5.8 mm unfolded, 11.7 mm folded).

Upon reviewing multiple reports, there appears to be some conflicting information regarding the display sizes. IceUniverse has a strong track record and seems to have obtained the screen protector, lending more credibility to the dimensions and aspect ratio. The possibility of an “Ultra” version also raises the question of whether it will feature a larger external display.

latest rumor suggests the existence of a new Z Fold 6 Ultra, with Android Headlines disclosing the sighting of a Samsung phone bearing the model number SM-F958N. For those unfamiliar, the inclusion of “8” at the end of the model number typically signifies an Ultra edition of a Samsung phone, as seen with the S24 Ultra under the model number SM-S928B.

Regrettably, there are no further details available about the Z Fold 6 Ultra at this time, aside from the significant revelation that it will mark Samsung’s inaugural introduction of an Ultra model into its foldable phone lineup.

According to analyst Ross Young’s initial report, the Z Fold 6 is expected to debut in Dark Blue, Light Pink, and Silver color options. However, a recent update from Young indicates that Dark Blue will now be known as Navy, and Silver will be referred to as Silver Shadow. Additionally, the phone will also be available in Crafted Black and White color variations. This will provide customers with a total of five color choices for the Z Fold 6 and seven for the Z Flip 6.

Furthermore, it’s probable that the device won’t feature an S Pen slot. However, with the potential release of a more premium Ultra version, this could change.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Specifikasi

Samsung recently unveiled its latest S24 lineup at the end of January, featuring the S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. These new phones are powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

It’s highly likely that Samsung will also incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip into the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 series. Given the pattern of annual chip upgrades for the Galaxy Z Fold, it’s expected that the new Z Fold and Z Flip models will also be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, following the lead of the S24 series.

The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is designed specifically for Android phones, and Samsung has once again teamed up with Qualcomm to optimize these chips for Galaxy devices. This collaboration has resulted in slightly overclocked chips that offer both optimal performance and power efficiency.

According to analyst Ross Young, the upcoming Fold 6 and Flip 6 will offer the same storage options as the Fold 5: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. While there haven’t been any rumors about the RAM specifications yet, more details are expected to be revealed soon.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Cameras

Regarding the camera specifications, there is conflicting information available.

Initially, Revegnus mentioned in a tweet that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 would feature the same image sensor as the Z Fold 5 in terms of aspect ratio. However, a recent leak shared by him suggests that Samsung might opt for the same camera sensor found in the S24 Ultra, potentially indicating an upgrade to a 200MP main camera.

While these leaks present contradictory details, it’s plausible that they could both be accurate if Samsung decides to release a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. In this scenario, the Ultra variant could boast the 200MP camera, while the standard version might retain the same cameras as the Z Fold 5.

According to GalaxyClub’s report, the rumors about a 200MP main camera for the Z Fold 6 cannot be confirmed. However, it is suggested that the Z Fold 6 will feature a 50MP primary lens similar to the regular S24. Yogesh Brar mentioned that the camera setup might resemble that of the Z Fold 5, including a 50MP primary camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: battery life

The details about the battery in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are quite scarce at the moment, but we do have some insights to share. Currently, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 houses a 4,400mAh battery with 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging capabilities.

It seems that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will come with a slightly larger battery capacity of 4,600mAh. Coupled with the power efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, as seen in the S24 series, this should bode well for the device’s battery life. While we currently lack specifics on the charging speeds, it’s reasonable to assume that they will be similar to those of its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: software and updates

Split-view multi-tasking on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

It’s highly likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be equipped with Android 14, along with at least One UI 6.1 layered on top. Given that Samsung introduced its Galaxy AI suite of AI-powered tools with the S24, it’s probable that these features will also be available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Samsung has committed to providing seven years of Android updates for its phones starting with the S24 series. This means that if the Z Fold 6 launches with Android 14, it’s very likely to be upgradable to Android 21. While the durability of foldable phones differs from that of traditional slab phones like the S24 line, long-term software support should still be a safe bet.
